Dear ASU Prep STEM PK8 families,
This is a notification that we will be formally enforcing our Dress Code with regard to outerwear, socks / tights / leggings & shoes after the Thanksgiving break, beginning Monday, November 26, 2018.
Outerwear:
  • Color: Must be a solid color (no pattern).  Black, tan, white, maroon or gray are preferred.
  • Logo: ASU and ASU Prep logos ONLY.
  • Style: jackets, sweaters, sweatshirts worn over a uniform shirt with the collar showing.  (Long-sleeve shirts are not considered outerwear and will not be permitted to be worn as such, however, students can wear the solid colored shirts (black, tan, white, maroon, gray) under their uniform shirts.
    • ONLY ASU Logo Hoodies will be allowed with the collar showing
Socks/tights/leggings:
  • ONLY solid colored socks/tights or leggings will be allowed.  (Black, tan, white, maroon or gray)
Shoes:
·         Closed-toe/Athletic shoes ONLY
o    NO BOOTS
Please note: Students will be able to wear any color/pattern jacket to school, they will just need to be taken off when inside of the building.  We recognize that it can sometimes feel cold inside so students will be allowed to wear either a solid colored sweatshirt/sweater (black, tan, white, maroon or gray) when inside as long as uniform shirt collar is visible. Or students can wear a solid colored long-sleeve undershirt, under their uniform shirt.
Thank you for your support!

Getting Ready for 5th Grade

What can your student do to prepare for 5th grade, and how can you help your child?  Go to the library.  Read things around your home together.  I loved reading to my kids before bedtime.  Visit the museums around town.  Take a day trip to see some of our amazing state.  Have your child help you cook in the kitchen.  Use everyday activities to practice math and social skills.  Have FUN!  Enjoy your time together.  We are looking forward to another school year and it will be here before we know it.

Specials for 5/6

5th grade specials will include
PE
Spanish
Music
STEM
Art

Students will also participate in a math and language arts special.

Extracurricular Activities

If your child is planning on participating in sports this year try to get your sports' physicals completed ASAP.  Make sure your child's immunizations are current.  Summer is a great time to become familiar with the different extracurricular activities ASU Prep STEM Academy has to offer. You can do a little research to become more familiar with the rules, requirements, and helpful hints you can find online about those sports and activities.  Get Involved!
